I think most of us would have been pretty lucky if we had started blogs in the late 90's. The original sources for blog information would have sold for some pretty good coin.

Blogging will evolve more to mobile and soon people will be blogging a lot easier from their phones, and using voice recorders. I see the future where a blog will just talk into their phone, the phone translates that into text, the blogger reviews it for errors and then tells the phone to send it to the blog where it is automatically posted and socialized to all networks including Facebook, Twitter, and a few others. Personally, I'd like to see that done today, and I'm sure with a few downloads and tricks this is possible, but should become the norm within a couple of years.

Now the billion dollar question, the one that people like Steve Jobs can probably answer:

Where will blogging go next. How will they evolve and what consumer products will answer the call.

We have the Google Nexus and the IPhone, but what's really going to take off.

In reality, software and hardware do have a loose evolutionary relationship in some places and much closer in others.

Let's ask Steve.

I think my earliest memory of blogs was around 2001, but even then I thought they were for professors or people that were trying to store documents. However, I didn't realize till years later that in fact they were more of personal records or information and I began blogging around 2006. My first blogging efforts were actually on Myspace where they had a blog section outside of the profile. From there, I started experimenting with different platforms and from all of my experiences with different blogs, I've got to say that Wordpress is my favorite. Self-hosted of course.

Really nice history of blogging, ironically I had heard about blogs in 1997 but never really paid much attention to it until after 2003. I myself didn't even start a blog until 2008 which is more than a decade after. Imagine how popular we would all be if we started 10 years ago instead of now trying to stand out among tens of millions of other blogs.
